The Regional Office for Cross-Border Cooperation (BRCT) Suceava, part of the national platform ROFRONT, successfully participated in the 2025 edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities (EURegionsWeek), held in Brussels, Belgium, from October 13 to 15, 2025.

The event, organized by the European Commission (Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy – DG REGIO) and the European Committee of the Regions, is the most important annual forum dedicated to cohesion policy, bringing together over 6,500 participants and hosting more than 220 sessions with over 300 speakers from across Europe.

An interactive stand with “One Borderless Vision”

BRCT Suceava and the other Regional Offices for Cross-Border Cooperation in Romania (BRCT Timișoara, BRCT Oradea, BRCT Iași, BRCT Călărași) hosted an interactive exhibition entitled: “One Borderless Vision: Celebrating 20 Years of EU Cooperation on the Eastern Border.”

The stand marked two decades of cross-border cooperation on Romania’s borders, presenting to the European public the most impactful projects and stories implemented under the cooperation programs managed by Romania, covering the following programming periods:

  • 2004-2006 Period: Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) Programs financed through the PHARE CBC instrument.
  • 2007-2013 Period: Joint Operational Programmes (JOPs) under ENPI (for the Eastern Neighbourhood), IPA (for Serbia), and the European Territorial Cooperation Objective (Interreg IV for Hungary and Bulgaria).
  • 2014-2020 Period: Neighbourhood Programmes (ENI/IPA) and the classic Interreg V-A Programmes.

Through visual storytelling and interactive materials, the exhibition demonstrated the evolution, challenges, and achievements of European Territorial Cooperation at the Union’s external border.

The dialogue at the stand was inaugurated with a series of official speeches that confirmed the importance of territorial cooperation.

Mr. Cezar GROZAVU delivered the opening speech, marking his official debut in Brussels as the President of the ROFRONT Association. This intervention represented the first direct representation opportunity for the Association on the European stage in Brussels, emphasizing its firm commitment to promoting the interests of border regions.

Alongside him, the following guests honored the event and delivered speeches:

  • Ms. Camelia COPORAN – Director General, Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration (MDLPA).
  • Mr. Carlos BOLAÑOS – Interreg TESIM NEXT Representative.
  • Mr. Vasile ASANDEI – Director General, North-East Regional Development Agency (ADR NE).

They highlighted the crucial role of cross-border cooperation in ensuring cohesion, solidarity, and common European values, especially in a strategic area such as the EU’s Eastern border.

The participation of the ROFRONT Association at EURegionsWeek 2025 contributed to strengthening Romania’s position as a key actor in implementing the Cohesion Policy at the EU’s external border.

The #ROFRONT stand transformed into a vibrant space for dialogue, resulting in new strategic contacts and potential future partnerships, essential for developing the project portfolio of BRCT Suceava and the entire ROFRONT platform.

We thank you! The high level of engagement achieved in Brussels was proof of the strong spirit of teamwork. The ROFRONT stand became a vibrant space for dialogue, demonstrating how the Romanian partnership contributes to a more united Europe.

We express our deepest gratitude to all colleagues in the BRCTs for their active involvement. The collaboration under the ROFRONT umbrella proves that our vision for cohesion is truly borderless.
