Introduction and context<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During the period 2014-2020, cross-border cooperation between Romania and Ukraine was financed through the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI)<\/strong>. The programme aimed at developing a region of prosperity and good neighbourliness, achieved through cooperation actions for the benefit of both states.
The Romania-Ukraine Joint Operational Programme 2014-2020 supported a total of 66 projects, with a total value of 66.2 million euros. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strategic investments made through these projects brought direct benefits to the communities in the border area through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Infrastructure: <\/strong>Rehabilitation of roads and modernisation of cross-border access routes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Health and Education:<\/strong> Modernisation and equipment of medical facilities, schools and partner universities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Heritage<\/strong>Restoration of major tourist attractions to increase the attractiveness of the region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Safety: <\/strong>Preparing authorities and the population for emergency situations through common equipment and intervention protocols.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n

    • TO 3 - Improving the accessibility of regions:<\/strong> Modernising transport infrastructure and communication systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

          Financial resources have been allocated to ensure a visible impact in the partner regions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • European Union Contribution (ENI): 60,000,000 Euro.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • National Co-financing (Romania and Ukraine):<\/strong> Minimum 10%<\/strong> of the EU contribution (approx. 6,000,000 Euro).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Total value of the programme: Over 66,000,000 Euro.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
