On Tuesday, 27 January 2026, the fifth meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine Programme 2021-2027 took place in Tulcea.
The aim of the meeting was to approve the projects selected under the second call for low value projects (small-scale projects), with a financial allocation of 15,605,083 EUR. The approved projects aim to generate cross-border impact by improving access to education, strengthening good governance and developing border co-operation.
At the same time, the projects selected for inclusion in the category of Operations of Strategic Importance (OSI), for which specific communication and visibility requirements apply, were approved on the basis of strategic relevance, significant cross-border impact, and enhanced institutional co-operation. The two projects are:
- project Flamecontrol ROUA00386 (Suceava (RO) - Chernivtsi (UA) ensuring cross-border institutional co-operation at command, coordination and analysis level, promoting common standards, efficient procedures and safer interventions. The strategic impact is to strengthen long-term institutional capacity and generate sustainable value in governance and coordination between Romania and Ukraine.
- project Proall ROUA00392 provides direct operational co-operation in the border area, through patrolling, intervention and drone surveillance, using equipment adapted to difficult terrain. The strategic impact is to create immediate operational capacity with community, environmental and safety benefits, providing transferable results and a regional model applicable to other mountain and border areas.
Visits to projects implemented under the Programme, both from the previous and the current programming period, were also organised.
