First meeting of the Romania-Ukraine Joint Operational Programme 2014-2020

The first meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee of the Romania-Ukraine Joint Operational Programme 2014-2020, managed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration (MDRAP) as Managing Authority, took place on 19 May. The topics discussed during the meeting were mainly related to the setting up and organisation of the Joint Monitoring Committee as the main decision-making structure of the Programme, the Technical Assistance Strategy of the Programme and the establishment of the principles for the appraisal and approval of Major Infrastructure Projects. The meeting also approved the distribution of the financial allocations between the calls for projects and priorities, as well as the maximum amount of funding that can be secured at project level depending on the Priority to which it is addressed. The meeting was attended by representatives from the central, regional and county levels of both countries participating in the programme, representatives of the European Commission, the Audit Authority and the Managing Authority of the MDRAP. As regards the funds allocated by priority, they will be used to finance projects selected following calls planned for October 2016 within the limit of the budgets available in this way: Thematic objective „Support for education, research, technological development and innovation” ENI budget - EUR 3,600,000 ENI divided as follows: - Priority 1.1 - Institutional co-operation in the field of education with a view to increasing access to and quality of education - € -2.100.000 - Priority 1.2 - Promotion and support for research and innovation - EUR 1,500,000 Thematic objective „Promotion of local culture and protection of historical heritage ENI budget - €6,000,000 earmarked for a single priority: - Priority 2.1 - Promotion and preservation of cultural and historical heritage- EUR 6,000,000 Thematic objective ”Improving accessibility in the regions, developing transport and common transport networks and systems„ ENI budget - EUR 18,000,000 for a single priority - Priority 3.1 - Development of cross-border transport infrastructure and ICT tools - 12.100.000 EUR Thematic objective ”Common safety and security challenges„ ENI Budget : EUR 14,400,000 distributed as follows: - Priority 4.1 - Support for the development of health services and access to health- Budget allocated to calls: € 6,400,000 - Priority 4.2 - Support for joint activities for the prevention of natural and man-made disasters and joint actions during emergencies - Budget allocated to calls: EUR 2,700,000 - Priority 4.3 - Prevention of and Fight against Organised Crime and Police Cooperation - Call Budget: EUR 5,300,000
