A day full of meaning, 9 May - Europe Day was celebrated by the Regional Office for Cross-border Cooperation.

On Europe Day we celebrate peace and unity, the common values that are the basis of the European Union, values that must also be passed on to the younger generation. On this occasion, BRCT Suceava in partnership with Grădinhe „La Piticul Vesel” school in Suceava organised on 9 and 10 May the „Europe in colours” action. The aim of the action was to promote the significance of 9 May among children, ending today with an ad-hoc exhibition of the works of art in the premises of the unit.

The children in the middle and large kindergarten groups challenged themselves inhalf dayThe pupils' creativity and imagination to realise posters and original drawings with the flag of the European Union and its Member States, under the guidance of the teachers of the unit. The painting tools for the organisation of creative workshops were donated by BRCT Suceava.

Through this action BRCT Suceava aimed to involve children in multicultural and interactive activities, as talent, youthful spirit and optimism are attributes meant to further the European construction. The BRCT Suceava team visited the kindergarten La Piticul Vesel and together with the teachers Mrs Gianina Mamciuc, the manager and Mrs Lăcrămioara Costiuc, the director, told the children present about the significance of Europe Day.

The action also included a group of Ukrainian children who learn at the kindergarten, children from various cities of Ukraine - Chernivtsi, Kiev, Odessa and who benefit from all the necessary conditions to attend classes.

The collaboration between BRCT Suceava and „La Piticul Vesel” Kindergarten in Suceava also comes in the context of the establishment of a special group for Ukrainian refugee children, and the Regional Office for Cross-Border Cooperation Suceava acts as Joint Technical Secretariat of the Romania-Ukraine Operational Programme 2014-2020, being involved in facilitating international initiatives to help Ukrainian refugees in the border counties.
