The role of regional science in building resilience in Ukraine - International Workshop

The war conflict between Ukraine and Russia has caused not only unprecedented human suffering, but also devastation of the built environment and infrastructure in many cities and regions of Ukraine. On behalf of the Regional Academy of Sciences and other scientific bodies, we believe that regional scientists from different parts of the world are able to provide scientific support in the reconstruction phase of the country once a peace treaty has been signed. But already in Ukraine there may be a great need for scientific advice, exchange of knowledge and strengthening of mutual contacts between experts in regional, urban and infrastructure development.

On Friday, 17 November 2022, 11:00-13:00, a scientific meeting in physical format was held to explore effective ways of cooperation and scientific support for capacity building in Ukraine, based on regional needs for scientific support. The event aimed to bring together experts from Europe with Ukrainian experts and other Ukrainian stakeholders.

The Centre for European Studies of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Iași, in collaboration with the Regional Academy of Sciences and the Regional Office for Cross-Border Cooperation Suceava, offered to act as the coordinating hub for this activity.
