BRCT Suceava present at the UUR Romania forum

BRCT Suceava was present at the forum „Strategies for improving local public administrations and intensifying cross-border cooperation Romania-Ukraine-Moldova”, organised by the Union of Ukrainians in Romania on 19-22 August 2024. The event brought together experts and officials from the three countries to discuss the opportunities and challenges of cross-border co-operation, as well as attracting European funds.

At the invitation of Mr Nicolae-Miroslav Petrețchi, President of the Union of Ukrainians in Romania and Member of the Romanian Parliament, Cezar Grozavu, Executive Director of the Regional Office for Cross-border Co-operation Suceava took part in the opening ceremony and made a significant contribution to the panel discussions. He underlined the importance of cross-border projects for the economic and social development of border regions and emphasised the active role of the Regional Office in facilitating these initiatives. Mr Grozavu stressed the need for strategic cooperation between local and regional authorities in order to maximise the positive impact of European funds and to strengthen relations between Romania, Ukraine and Moldova.

At the event, Nicolae Neață, head of the Project Monitoring Service within the Directorate General for European Territorial Cooperation of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, underlined the importance of the Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine programme for 2021-2027, promoting access to European funds and the importance of efficient cooperation for the success of cross-border projects.

The Forum highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation and European financial support in the development of border regions, underlining the commitment of BRCT Suceava and the other participating institutions in promoting efficient regional cooperation and taking advantage of the Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine Programme 2021-2027 to increase the economic attractiveness of border regions.
